Konquered Press · Editorial Integrity · Review Board

Help Build the Review Standard for Public Scholarship.

Konquered Press is building an independent review board for serious nonfiction, peer-reviewed public scholarship, leadership frameworks, cultural analysis, and applied books that must be both rigorous and reachable.

Scholar-Led · Public-Facing · Independently Reviewed

Building the board behind the books.

The Konquered Press Review Board supports a publishing model where serious work is reviewed, strengthened, and prepared for real audiences — not hidden from them.

Purpose of the Board

A review system built for books that have to live outside the academy.

The board helps Konquered Press protect rigor while expanding access.

01

Protect Scholarly Seriousness

Reviewers help evaluate claims, sources, evidence, interpretation, and disciplinary grounding before publication.

02

Strengthen Public Reach

Konquered Press books must be readable, teachable, and usable by communities, leaders, institutions, and classrooms.

03

Build Trust Through Process

The board helps create visible standards for external review, conflict disclosure, ethical framing, and editorial integrity.

Review Standards

We are looking for reviewers who can hold both rigor and reach.

Konquered Press review is not a rubber stamp. Reviewers are asked to examine manuscripts for accuracy, evidence, ethical framing, clarity, contribution, and responsible public argument.

Accuracy and Evidence Reviewers evaluate whether claims are supported by credible sources, records, research, or clearly marked lived experience.
Argument and Structure Reviewers assess whether the manuscript’s central argument is coherent, persuasive, and responsibly developed.
Ethics and Harm Reduction Reviewers flag overclaiming, privacy concerns, stereotyping, community harm, unsupported accusations, or careless framing.
Public Readability Reviewers help ensure serious work can be understood by audiences beyond a narrow disciplinary circle.

Who We Are Looking For

Scholars, practitioners, editors, and public thinkers with standards.

We are building an interdisciplinary review community, not a decorative list of names.

Scholars

PhDs, MDs, DrPHs, JDs, EdDs, historians, sociologists, ethicists, public health scholars, and Black studies scholars.

Practitioners

Clinicians, institutional leaders, educators, nonprofit executives, public health directors, legal advocates, and policy leaders.

Editors + Writers

Developmental editors, narrative nonfiction editors, cultural critics, essayists, journalists, and public-facing scholars.

Community Experts

Movement leaders, organizers, advocates, caregivers, institutional witnesses, and people with deep lived or applied expertise.

Ways to Serve

Choose the level of contribution that fits your expertise and capacity.

Not every contributor needs to review every book. The structure lets people serve with precision.

01

Editorial and Peer Review Council

Senior scholars, editors, public intellectuals, and practitioners who advise the press, strengthen review standards, recommend reviewers, and support the credibility of the publishing model.

02

Manuscript Reviewer Pool

Experts who review manuscripts, proposals, briefs, or field guides in their areas of expertise and provide structured feedback using a Konquered Press rubric.

03

Public Impact Readers

Practitioners, community leaders, cultural critics, and applied experts who assess usefulness, clarity, ethical framing, audience fit, and public consequence.
