Independent inquiry. Public consequence.
Built for
the questions
that matter.
An Institute for rigorous research, scholar development, and evidence that people can use. We confront disparities, racism, and institutional barriers with methods strong enough to move the work forward.
The Institute / An ambitious foundation
Conviction asks
the question.
Rigor earns the answer.
We bring research, training, and public engagement into one institutional vision. The work must hold up in peer review—and remain useful beyond it.

part of the mission.Design · Analysis · Interpretation · Accountability
Necessary questions.
Exacting work.
Research that examines unequal conditions, tests institutional assumptions, and makes the limits of its evidence visible.
People need
more than a platform.
They need mentorship, methodological support, time to write, and credible pathways from an idea to a study, publication, or public contribution.

Bring us
the question
you cannot ignore.
Hire the Institute to help design a study, develop a grant, strengthen your research team, or evaluate what is working. We scope the work with you and build the methods around the decision you need to make.
Discuss a research engagement ↗Research design & studies
Study questions, protocols, quantitative and qualitative designs, mixed methods, and analysis plans matched to the problem and available evidence.
Scope: design, implementation support, analysis and interpretation.Grant strategy & writing
Develop a fundable research narrative, align aims and methods, articulate significance, and strengthen the proposal’s logic and evaluation plan.
Scope: proposal development and review; awards remain funder decisions.Research team training
Methods workshops, mentorship, applied analytic training, and research practices that help teams move from collecting information to producing defensible evidence.
Scope: customized instruction and capacity development.Evaluation & evidence strategy
Clarify what success means, select appropriate measures, examine implementation, and develop findings that can guide organizational decisions.
Scope: evaluation design, measurement, reporting and translation.Fellowships & scholar development / Proposed pathways
Brilliant minds.
Room to do
the work.
Build the conditions for scholars to pursue difficult questions with sustained support, rigorous methods, and a platform worthy of their contributions.

Discovery fellowships
Freedom to inquire.
Support to finish.
Faculty and postdoctoral pathways alongside graduate, professional, and undergraduate development. Proposed funding, mentoring, and public engagement are being designed as one connected system.
Explore the scholar pathways ↗Five entry points.
Shared ambition.
Planned pathways, subject to funding and final terms. Interest inquiries are open; awards and applications have not been announced.

The work behind the work
Time to write.
People to think with.
Writing retreats, methods support, mentoring, and proposed summits make scholarship a sustained practice.
Five research pillars / One methods & evidence core
The questions
cross boundaries.
AI / Innovation / Human consequence
Intelligence &
Human Futures
Examine how artificial intelligence and emerging technologies shape opportunity, decision-making, institutional power, and everyday life. Pair innovation with evaluation, transparency, and public accountability.
Shared core: research design, quantitative and qualitative methods, evaluation, and responsible interpretation.

An I AM Research Institute Immersion
The tools
to question.
The power
to participate.
The People’s Lab is a proposed eight-hour immersion in asking better questions, reading evidence, and turning analysis into public impact. A serious research experience designed to invite more people into the work.
Curriculum and delivery partnerships are in development. Academic credit would require an agreement with an accredited institution; it is not currently offered.
Global Black Health Atlas / In development
Our health.
Our evidence.
Our future.
Build the evidence communities can use to save lives, direct resources, and shape their own health. The Atlas centers Black-specific data and clearly identified national context from documented Black-majority countries.
The public experience is a preview. A quarterly source-update system is being developed; a live feed is not yet connected. National context is never relabelled as race-specific evidence.

Planned engagement regions. This map does not represent established offices, signed agreements, or confirmed sites.
Regional engagement / Relationships before reach
A national vision.
Built through
local relationships.
Develop institutional relationships with colleges, universities, health systems, and communities. Regional representatives will help identify scholars, connect research needs, and develop partnerships with a clear purpose.
Build a regional partnership ↗
Publishing / Summits / Public imagination
Serious scholarship.
A larger stage.
Peer-reviewed books and articles. Documentary and digital storytelling. Summits that bring rigorous inquiry into the room. We are developing the editorial and public-production infrastructure to give consequential work a wider reach.
Journal and book editorial boards, publication processes, and convening plans are in development. Peer review remains independent; publication acceptance is never guaranteed.

The ambition
is institutional.
The stakes
are human.
I AM Research Institute brings a commitment to disparities-focused scholarship, the study of racism, and scholar development into a broader vision of public evidence. Its purpose is to build the methods, relationships, and platforms that help necessary research become lasting work.
